What we bring to your practice

Peregrine Bastion is a small yoga studio in Ooi, Kumagaya. The pattern we see most often is simple: students attend for a few weeks, feel better, then stop when work and family take over. So our classes are short, our groups are small, and every class comes with something you can repeat at home on a busy day.

What we offer

What we bring to your practice

Classes that fit real schedules

Morning, lunchtime, and evening sessions through the week. We keep groups small so the teacher can actually see you.

Lifestyle, not just postures

We talk about sleep, breath, seasonal eating, and the small daily habits that make a practice stick between sessions.

Gear you can trust

The essentials range is deliberately short: five items we think are worth owning for a home practice, chosen for how they hold up in class.

Returning to yoga after a long gap: what to expect

Most people who return to yoga after a gap of several months or more expect to pick up roughly where they left off. The body has other ideas. This article is about what actually happens when you come back, and how to approach the first few sessions in a way that does not end in frustration or injury.

Restorative yoga in autumn: winding down in the evening

Autumn in Japan brings a noticeable shift in energy for many people. The heat of summer lifts, the days shorten, and the body starts to recalibrate. For some people this feels like relief. For others it brings a kind of restlessness or difficulty settling at night. Restorative yoga offers a gentle, practical way to wind down.

What to wear for yoga practice: a practical guide

What you wear to yoga practice matters more than it might seem, not for aesthetic reasons but for practical ones. The wrong fabric in a restorative session can make you cold. The wrong cut in a forward fold can pull you out of the pose. This is what we consider when choosing practice wear, whatever you end up buying and wherever you buy it.

A few words from us

Students lying on mats on a foam-tiled studio floor with small red balls

The studio

Kumagaya, Saitama

Peregrine Bastion offers four class formats (Foundation, Flow, Restorative Evening, and Pranayama and Meditation), a six-week seasonal series each autumn, and private sessions by appointment. We work with students at very different levels, from complete beginners to people coming back after a long gap, and we keep groups small so the teacher can see everyone in the room. Ask us who will teach your first class when you get in touch.

Frequently asked

Common questions

Q.Do I need any experience to join the Foundation Class?

No experience at all is needed. The Foundation Class is designed as a proper starting point, not a drop-in for people who already know the basics. The teacher walks through each posture from scratch, explains what it is doing, and offers adjustments. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and bring water.

Q.How do I pay for classes and essentials?

There is no online checkout on this site. Tell us the class or essentials item you want through the contact form, by email or by phone, and we confirm availability and the price in our reply, together with the ways you can pay. A class place is held once payment is arranged; we do not hold places without it.
